Alžběta Niebauerová is the granddaughter of Rudolf Lukeš, the renowned illustrator of children’s books and popular foldout books with spatial pictures. Having completed her grammar-school studies in Prague, she enrolled at that city’s College of Media and Journalism, so following in the footsteps of her father, a script writer and journalist. She worked for newspapers and television while still at college. Following graduation, she went to England in search of experience, where she worked as an au pair. On her return she became a reporter; later she became the deputy editor-in-chief of a magazine for young people. After taking maternity leave for three years, she turned to online media, working as a website editor and chief reporter for the women’s website Dama.cz. Currently on parental leave, she writes articles and textual matter for children on a freelance basis.
